Sony Ericsson to sponsor Empire Film Awards

Sony Ericsson is to headline sponsor the Empire Film Awards 2008 for the fifth successive year.

The Sony Ericsson Empire Awards will provide a platform for the handset manufacturer to promote its latest five-megapixel camera phone, the K850i Cyber-shot.


New elements at the awards include a short film competition called Done In Sixty Seconds, encouraging budding film directors to remake a movie on their mobile phone or DV camera. The director of the winning entry, submitted at the Empire awards microsite, will receive a trophy on the night.

Members of the public can answer questions to win K850i handsets, and every week visitors to the microsite could win a year's subscription to Empire magazine. An awards WAP site has been created enabling mobile phone users to access content from the microsite.

The Sony Ericsson Empire Awards will take place on 9 March at The Grosvenor Hotel, London and will be shown on ITV2
